Overview
Botswana’s Chobe National Park has the largest concentration of elephants in Africa, with over 120,000 elephants. The world-famous Okavango Delta, once connected to Chobe, is the largest inland delta on earth, where the Okavango River flows into the Kalahari Desert instead of the sea. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014, the Okavango is also one of the few inland deltas recognized as a global biodiversity hotspot.
Home to the Big Five and more than 500 bird species, the Okavango spans 15,000 sq. km in peak season, shrinking to about 8,000 sq. km during the dry months. Chobe National Park covers 11,700 sq. km of pristine wilderness.
On this 11-day safari, you will explore both ecosystems, starting in Maun, on the lower edge of the Okavango, and ending in Kasane, gateway to Chobe. You will travel between camps by road and light aircraft, allowing you to experience Botswana’s spectacular landscapes from both ground and air.
Botswana Fact:
Over 40% of the country’s land is dedicated to wildlife conservation through national parks, game reserves, and wildlife management areas.
