Here, amidst the lush greenery, you'll undergo the necessary formalities before commencing your trek. As you tread along the trail, traversing open grasslands, keep your eyes peeled for the diverse wildlife that roams freely, including giraffes, zebras, antelopes, elephants, and buffaloes. With an armed ranger accompanying you, immerse yourself in the beauty of the rainforest as you steadily ascend towards Miriakamba Huts. Nestled in a serene grassy glade, these huts provide a tranquil haven amidst nature's embrace.

Embark on a continued ascent from Miriakamba Huts to Saddle Huts, a journey that unfolds amidst breathtaking landscapes and diverse vegetation.

As we press forward, the trail leads us through the verdant rainforest, gradually transitioning into the heath zone adorned with towering giant heathers and characteristic moorland vegetation. Along the ridge of the saddle, we are treated to panoramic vistas, including glimpses of the Mount Meru Crater and the Ash Pit, adding to the allure of the journey. Upon reaching Saddle Huts, you have the option to embark on a hike to the summit of Little Mount Meru, offering unparalleled views and aiding further in acclimatization.

We commence our ascent in the early hours, around 1:30 a.m., embarking on a steep climb towards Rhino Point (3,800 m) and subsequently to Cobra Point (4,350 m). As dawn breaks, we reach the summit (4,566 m), offering a chance to witness the breathtaking sunrise, with the possibility of glimpsing the majestic Kilimanjaro Peak emerging above the clouds. The final stretch entails traversing a remarkable narrow ridge line nestled between the sheer inner cliffs and the sloping outer wall of the crater.

After a brief rest and brunch at Saddle Hut, we begin our descent towards Miriakamba Hut, and subsequently to Momela Gate.

Upon arrival at Momella Gate, your return transfer awaits to transport you back to Moshi or Arusha, reaching your accommodation.
